Description
This Lot relates to systems and devices employing GPS-based navigation systems for providing position information to mobile users.
Conventional navigation systems suffer from multiple problems including difficulty adapting to changes in travel routes and roadway restrictions, cost, and portability. The destination information, once loaded, is difficult to modify enroute. Moreover, the systems suffer from security issues as they have no authorization control for destination information. The '547 patent provides a low cost and easily modifiable GPS-based navigation system integrated with an audio entertainment system, in one mobile device. The '828 patent discloses a GPS-based navigation system in which the destination information is stored in a programmable memory and is easily user-modifiable. The '269 patent provides a GPS-based navigation system in which the user is authenticated before providing data information. This security measure prevents unauthorized data copying and subsequent commercial exploitation.
These assets will be of interest to companies engaged in manufacturing or selling electronic navigation systems, and/or devices employing such a system, including mobile companies, semiconductor companies and other microelectronics device manufacturers.
